Public servants work for government and for citizens. They're responsible to the elected government, not a political party. They develop and deliver public programs or services, inform policy-making, and provide evidence-based advice to leaders.
Working through change, out in the open. Public servants regularly adapt policies and services to meet current needs. They're resilient and strong – being responsive to public input and determined to maintain services even in the most challenging situations.
It's more than doing a job. A career in the public service is for anyone who wants to make a difference. It means putting public interests first – ahead of personal interests. Many public servants say they chose public service because they enjoy giving back to their community.
Building careers around things that matter. It's not just about money, prestige, or the "bottom line." Being a public servant means working hard for a noble purpose and being dedicated to your daily work of serving citizens.
Is it for you? Do you want to serve others? Will you set aside personal interests for the sake of the public? Do you enjoy the challenge of navigating complex problems or systems? If so, come work with us.

Under the BC sun, we grow cannabis with an approach that blends traditional greenhouse experience with hands-on knowledge of legacy growing practices.
The pure, potent, aromatic cannabis that made BC famous fills our grow rooms with its fragrance, and connects us to a lineage of growers who loved plants just like we do.
That provenance is important to us, but so is progress. We get up every day to explore where BC bud goes next, and that goal is the beating heart of our greenhouse.
The plant we grow is unique. Full of potential, it’s got the power to become what people need it to be. It can unleash the creativity, illuminate and connect. We’re here to inspire that.

We do it our way. Our brand way.

Surrey Police Service (SPS) is a community-based municipal police service, that was established in 2020 to serve the citizens of Surrey, BC. As a new and progressive police service, SPS supports one of Canada’s fastest growing and most diverse cities, while staying accountable to the community, and working to enhance public safety. Currently, SPS is working through one of the largest policing transitions in Canada’s history; a transition that will see the City of Surrey change its policing model from the RCMP to a local municipal police service. As a local police service, SPS will have the ability to respond to issues quickly and allocate the necessary resources to develop policies and programs that are based on the changing needs of the public. Our policing model is founded in a culture of community collaboration and engagement. From day one, SPS has set a goal of being diverse, inclusive, and reflective of the community we serve. We are building partnerships and looking for long-term solutions to complex problems. SPS is accountable to the citizens it serves and is governed by an independent police board that sets the policing priorities and budget based on the needs and expectations of Surrey’s citizens and business owners. Surrey’s policing transition is now well underway. During phase one, SPS officers are being assigned into the Surrey RCMP under RCMP command. This will continue until phase two of the transition, during which SPS will assume responsibility for policing. It’s an exciting and historic time. Once SPS is fully operational, Surrey will have a municipal police service for the first time since 1951 – built with the latest technology, training, and progressive practices – to specifically serve the needs of the city. SPS is actively recruiting new members. We will be on site with a presentation booth and recruiting unit members to answer your questions. If you are interested in a career in policing, come out to see us!
